How do I support my seriously ill friends?
I have a couple of very close and dear friends who happen to live overseas.
One has been diagnosed with bowel cancer, the other is very quickly going blind.
What in the *heck* can I do to help them? The one with bowel cancer has had a bout of this a couple of years ago so I don’t know what to think about that 
…and the one who’s going blind – we mainly communicate via SMS and e-mail/paper mail… and it hurts her eyes to read or do anything like that now, so I don’t know how I’m going to ‘talk’ to her… (
I have often told them how important they are to me… but I’m unsure how to deal with this. I lost my Mum to bowel cancer 15+ years ago and that wasn’t very good… Dad lost his sight for a time long before I was even born but it came back – he still often talks about that time.

The best thing you can do for your friends, is continue to be a true friend to them. I know from experience. I was diagnosed with brain cancer, when I was a teenager. And it really takes a toll on someone when their friends turn their backs on them in their time of need. I also went blind in one eye. So my advice is, don’t pull away from them. Let them know that you’re a true friend that cares. Believe me, it’ll help make those bad days so much easier to bare. God bless you!
P.S. I no longer have cancer. And have cut those old so-called friends out of my social circle.
