How do you define an EMP and what are it’s effects?
Over the years i’ve heard many different definitions of EMP, these range from a pulse of gramma rays to a pulse of ionised particles and the effects varry from breifly shutting down a computer to destroying every known type of power source (Even batteries)
This is my best guess but am i right:
An intense pulse of magnetic energy that via the principle that a conductor moved though a magnetic field generates an electric current, creates a surge of current which overloads sensivive computer components ie basicly what happens to your computer when lightning hits the power cables and you don’t have a surge protector.
Am i right?

One type of EMP is a gigantic electromagnetic pulse which is generated when an atomic bomb goes off a few miles above a city. It could induce electrical currents inside electronic equipment for 30 miles around, completely destroying them. It could wipe out all the high technology in a city, leaving people to live in the dark ages.
